Preparing for the Conference

What to Wear

The dress code for the conference is casual. If you are presenting, either with a talk or poster, you may want to bring business causal clothing to wear during your presentation, but this is optional. The weather during the conference looks cold. The projected low is 16deg F and the high is 43deg F. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

We recommend that you bring comfortable walking shoes. You will be walking from the hotel or parking lot to the conference location, which may be 10-15 minutes. Our social event on Friday, at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, can include a trip throughout the outdoor gardens. There are also greenhouses which will be much warmer.

If you are presenting…

If you are presenting a poster at CUWiP, arrive with your poster printed. On Saturday, the day of the day of the poster presentations, you can bring your poster to the poster presentation location (Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons) and hang it on a provided poster board. Please remember that your poster cannot exceed 4′ by 3′.

If you are giving a talk, please consider how you will access your talk. You can connect your personal laptop to the console through HDMI or use the in-built computer. If you would like to use your personal laptop but it does not have an HDMI port, please bring an adapter. If you will be using the in-built computer, I recommend having your talk on a flash drive and also uploading it to your email. During one of the coffee breaks, you should test your presentation to make sure you can pull it up and project it through whichever method you choose. Please remember that talks cannot exceed 12 minutes. At the 10 minute mark, we will provide a warning time indication. At 12 minutes, we will stop your talk for questions.
