If you are staying on-site at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center….
First, arrive at the hotel (800 Spring St NW Atlanta GA 30308). If you are driving, park in the parking lot adjoining the hotel on Spring St, labeled “Hotel Parking”. You will be provided with a parking voucher when you check into the conference that will pay for overnight stays in the parking lot, but will not cover going in and out of the lot. If you are arriving by air, instructions on how to use MARTA to reach the hotel are included here.
You can check into the hotel at the main desk, and they will provide your room key. Each person staying in the room can check in separately and will receive their own room key. We suggest that you stow all your personal items in your hotel room, except for a bag you can use to carry conference materials. You can then proceed to conference check in, located in the Howey Physics Building (800 Atlantic Dr NW Atlanta GA 30318).
You can reach Howey from the Hotel by walking or taking the Stinger shuttle. To walk, proceed east on 5th St NW. You should cross over the highway and not be going further into the city. If you stay on the south sidewalk that the hotel is on, you can proceed along 5th (which changes its name to Ferst Drive) until you reach the rainbow staircase. Go up the stairs and continue straight up the next set of stairs. The Howey Physics building will be in front of you on your right and is a very tall brick building. Proceed straight and go past the sidewalk intersection. The entrance is on that sidewalk to your direct right and will have four doors, pictured below. For a more accessible route that does not include stairs, go east on 5th street and follow the sidewalk until you reach State St NW, where you will take a left. Howey will be the first building on your left. You can enter the doors on State St and take the elevator to the first floor or continue past the building, take a left at the next sidewalk intersection, and enter the main doors on the first floor.
To take the Stinger shuttle, cross 5th St so that you are on the north side of the street. There is a Stinger Shuttle stop by the Moe’s, indicated by a Shuttle sign. Take the Gold route and get off at the fifth stop, which should be for the Marcus Nanotechnology building. From the stop, turn right and cross Ferst Drive at the pedestrian crossing light. Continue straight. The first building to your right is the lecture-hall portion of Howey. Do not enter this building. Turn right after this building and continue until you reach the tall portion (5 stories) of Howey. The entrance is on that sidewalk to your direct right and will have four doors, pictured below.
Conference check in will be on the first floor of Howey, right next to the main entrance in room S105 (to the right of the front office).
If you are commuting to the conference….
Please park in the visitor lot labeled “Visitor 5, North Campus Parking Deck” (909 State St NW Atlanta GA 30318). This lot is a multi-story parking deck. If you are approaching from 10th St, turn south onto State St and then take the second left into the parking garage. If you are approaching from Ferst Drive, turn north onto State St and take the right after the pedestrian crossing. You take a parking ticket when you enter the garage. At check in, we will provide you with three parking vouchers, which will allow you with three exits from the lot, one each day. Additional exits (such as you leaving and returning to the lot within one day) will not be covered.
To check in to the conference, you can exit the parking garage on either the east or west side. The east side has a large sidewalk and no cars. Proceed south (to the right) on this sidewalk, past the Ferst Drive intersection. The first building to your right is the lecture-hall portion of Howey. Do not enter this building. Turn right after this building and continue until you reach the tall portion (5 stories) of Howey. The entrance is on that sidewalk to your direct right and will have four doors, pictured below.
If you exit the parking deck from the west, along State Street where there are cars, continue south on State St (turn left). Go past the four way stop. Howey will be the first building on your left. Continue past Howey and turn left to reach the main entrance. The entrance is on that sidewalk to your direct left and will have four doors, pictured below. If you enter Howey on the State Street entrance, facing the elevator, you will have to go up one floor.
Conference check in will be on the first floor of Howey, right next to the main entrance in room S105 (to the right of the front office).
