Dr. Emily Alicea-Muñoz
Academic Professional, Georgia Tech, School of Physics
My research focuses on the professional development of physics graduate teaching assistants (GTAs). This has encompassed the development of a comprehensive preparation program for first-time physics GTAs and a thorough program assessment. I’m also interested in other aspects of physics education, such as holistic assessment of teaching effectiveness, development of expert-like problem-solving skills, and the process of science communication in the classroom. I’m a native of Puerto Rico, I like video games, fanfics, and cats, and I’m also a breast cancer survivor.
Dr. Kelimar Diaz Cruz
Assistant Professor in Physics, Oglethorpe University
Prof. Flavio Fenton
Professor, Georgia Tech, School of Physics
My work is on excitable media, complex systems, and pattern formation, using a combined approach of theory, experiments, and computer simulations. Interested in: Complex Systems, Experimental physiology, Biophysics, High performance computing and GPU.
I found diversity in Physics to be a very important issue, please feel free to email me with any questions at: ffenton[@]gatech.edu
Sarah Gonzalez
PhD Student, Georgia Tech, School of Physics
Hiya! I’m Sarah (she/they) and a fourth year PhD student working on Soft Matter with Dr. Sabetta Matsumoto to characterize the elasto-mechanical behavior of knitted fabrics. I like to read (a lot), crochet, walk my dog, and sleep.
Elisa Rheaume
PhD Student, Georgia Tech, School of Physics
Heya! I’m Elisa (she/her), a 2nd year graduate student in Physics and Quantitative Biosciences studying electromagnetic responses in biomolecules and biological mediums. I DON’T knit or crochet. I enjoy science fiction television, board games, and tabletop RPG’s. Feel free to reach out anytime at elisa.rheaume[@]gatech.edu.
Evan Rheaume
PhD Student, Georgia Tech, School of Physics
Hi! My name is Evan (they/them) and I’m a second year PhD student. I work with Dr. Flavio Fenton on multiple pacemaker dynamics of Sea Squirts. I have an immense love for Star Trek and hyenas and am always down to talk about either. In my free time I like to crochet, draw, and play DnD. Email me at sierra.rheaume[@]gatech.edu.
Snigdaa Sethuram
PhD Student, Georgia Tech, School of Physics
Snigdaa is a grad student doing computational cosmology with a focus on machine learning. She is looking forward to the day being a woman in stem isn’t being in the minority, because they are her favorite scientists :’) she’s always down to talk about school and research, but also a sucker for animal pictures, thoughts on obscure music, and deep introspective conversations about the multi-faceted nature of humanity
Krishma Singal
PhD Student, Georgia Tech, School of Physics
Hello! My name is Krishma, and I’m a 7th year PhD student at Georgia Tech. My research is in Soft Matter Physics where I study the elastic and programmable nature of knitted fabrics. Outside of research, I love dabbling in graphic design, mehndi/henna art, and exploring different crafts such as knitting and crocheting. I also love bombarding people with pictures of my cat, Pico! You can email me at ksingal3[@]gatech.edu!
Dr. Danielle Skinner
Instructor, Oregon State University, Department of Physics
Hey! I’m Danielle (she/her)! I recently graduated with my PhD from Georgia Tech where my research focused on neutron star mergers in the early universe. I am now an Instructor at Oregon State University. In my free time, I like to knit, hang with my cats, and do handstands! Please feel free to email me at skinneda[@]oregonstate.edu!
